Pilates 5.00pm to 6.00pm

Pilates 5.00pm to 6.00pm

Thu, 4 Jul 2019 17:00

Pilates class 5.00pm to 6.00pm

Pilates is a gentle, controlled movement method which focuses on posture, core strength and mobility. It teaches movement patterns which minimise stresses and tensions on the body and is highly effective in both the treatment and prevention of injury.

I incorporate a combination of standing and floor-based exercises to develop functional core strength and joint stability and to ensure any new patterns of movement transition in daily activities.

For those unable to comfortably get on and off the floor, a seated pilates class option is available. This is also beneficial when used within an office environment.

Remedial exercise is aimed at those whose movement has become restricted by injury, illness or as a result of current or recent pregnancy.

Group classes are limited to a maximum of 12 and focus on correct movement patterns to promote balance, coordination, strength and mobility.

1816 The Year Without a Summer

1816 The Year Without a Summer

Sat, 3 Aug 2019 13:00

1816 - The Year Without a Summer
A WEA short course
Rampton Village Hall
Saturday 3rd August 2019. 1.00 PM-3.00 PM
Everyone welcome: entry £8.00
Tutor: Judith Hedley
As the Napoleonic wars came to an end, a catastrophic volcanic eruption in Indonesia threw huge clouds
of dust and ash into the atmosphere, affecting global weather patterns such that the summer of
1816 was one of the wettest and coldest ever recorded. Famine and suffering were rife around the
world. Yet these grim conditions inspired some of the greatest literature and art of the Romantic
period, including Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the publication of Kubla Khan, and some of the
finest paintings Turner and Constable ever produced.
