Forest Garden Field
Forest Garden Field - Was allocated to the Parish under the 1845 Inclosure Award, at that time it was known as Surveyors of the Highways field. The award stated that the field was initially divided into Allotments and an agriucultural field. 2.6 Acres of the field was converted to Allotment Gardens, possibly with a small orchard and the remainder being agricultural field, it is assumed this is how it became known locally as 'Forest Garden Field'. According to the 1842-45 Inclosure Award the Parish of Rampton owned the 'Allotments' The Surveyor of Roads & Drains owned the field next to it. The passing of the Local Govt Act 1894 allocated the lands of Parish and those of the Parish Employees "the Surveyors of Highways, Surveyors of Roads & Drains and Parish Pinders to the Parish Council. In the late 1970's the allotments fell into disuse and in the early 1980's the whole field was turned over to agriculture. The field is let on a tenancy with a local farmer since 1982. The field is located on Retford Road between the School and Rampton.
